Registered parishioners receive a booklet of envelopes to be used as needed to make a donation to the Church. The envelopes are there to assist in your methods of giving. The most common method of giving is through gifts of cash such as actual cash and check writing. Additional options of giving include gifts of securities such as stocks, mutual funds, and bonds.

ELECTRONIC FUNDS TRANSFER (EFT) - Consider having your donation automatically withdrawn from your  account. Your donation can be safely transferred monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually. A copy of the EFT form is located on page 2 of the Tithing Card. You can sign up for EFT anytime.

ANNUAL STEWARDSHIP DRIVE - The Annual Stewardship Drive asks for your pledge of financial support to fund our Church needs. This is our largest fundraiser. We all have different levels of financial resources, but we are all called to return in a measure we have been blessed. Being good stewards of our Church means giving of yourself in many areas: time, talent, and treasure. People who are interested in becoming registered parishioners are encouraged to complete the following census and/or registration form and a tithing card.

Giving to the Church

Text Box: Welcome to St. John the Evangelist
1234 Kentucky Lawrence, Kansas

MAJOR UNRESTRICTED AND RESTRICTED GIFTS - Oftentimes, parishioners want to give a one time major gift. Such gifts are allocated so that all areas of the church benefit; or restricted to benefit a specific purpose and/or intention of the donor.

GIFTS IN-KIND - Another avenue of giving is through gifts in-kind, which are best described as non-cash gifts (tangible property). It is not the responsibility of St. John to place a value on gifts in-kind; however, a recording of such gifts are kept on file. An acknowledgement letter describing the item(s) donated will be sent. It is the responsibility of the donor to determine the value of donated items if you wish to claim your gift as a charitable deduction.

MATCHING GIFT COMPANIES - Matching gifts from employers can double or sometimes triple the value of your giving. Your employer’s human resource office will have the necessary matching-gift information including forms. Oftentimes, employers will not match gifts to religious organizations; however, gifts to St. John School could qualify.

PLANNED GIVING - Have you ever heard this phrase, “Remember the Church in your will.” You’ve probably asked, “Does anybody do this?” The answer is yes. St. John Church and School has received many bequests from a number of estates. You can make provisions for St. John the Evangelist Church and/or School in your will, designating a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate.

Our church is a recognized tax-exempt nonprofit organization as described in section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code. Our federal tax ID is 48-0576029. The school federal tax ID is 48-0930277. Adequate records of your gifts and donations are maintained in the Simon Parish Center.
