SUGGESTED ANNUAL GIVING LEVELS Building Project Pledge Form |
BUILDING PROJECT - Building Project Pledge Form pic of new building St. John Church began efforts towards a building project. The driving force for this discussion is the recent decision by the Lawrence School Board to reconfigure the schools in Lawrence to move the 6th grade into newly formed Middle Schools, and 9th grade into the High Schools. Prior to this decision, St. John was one of the very few schools in the Archdiocese not to offer 7th and 8th grades because of the public school configuration; therefore, the parish did not need to expand our school facility. With the new USD 497 configuration which is set to be implemented for the 2011-12 school year, our parish is faced with a hard choice to eliminate 6th grade, or expand our parish school to include 7th and 8th grades. Fr. John would like to see our school expanded to include the 8th grade. The current St. John School Council has spent most of this year discussing this issue, and surveyed current school families to find out how they felt. Results indicated that current parents would indeed send their children to St. John school for 7th and 8th grades if we had that option. To do so will require adding classrooms to accommodate the additional students and programming. There is also a second factor at work here which is the growth of our parish over the past few years. As many parishioners can attest, parish activities and ministries are frequently in conflict with using our parish facilities during daytime and evening. Fr. John believes that an expansion of our parish facilities would enable us to solve some of these problems so that both parish ministries and the school can continue to grow.
NEW TO THE PARISH - Complete this form if you would like to become a registered member of St. John Church. Registered members of St. John Church receive a bi-monthly mailing from the church office. The bi-monthly mailing includes giving envelopes and the parish newsletter with valuable information. Mailings arrive Jan 1, March 1, May 1, July 1, Sept 1, and Nov 1. Call the church office, 843.0109, to find out if you are a registered member.
2011 & 2012 ANNUAL GIVING APPEAL - Complete this form to submit a financial pledge to St. John. The Annual Giving Appeal asks for your pledge of financial support to fund Church needs. We all have different levels of financial resources, but we are all called to return in a measure we have been blessed. Parishioners pledged over $1 million dollars in 2010 to support the parish. The Annual Giving Appeal funds over 60% of the regular Annual Operating Budget which supports all ministries of our church including school, religious ed, music, St. Clare Center, liturgy, youth activities, cemetery, adult ed, Spanish liturgy, and many more.
ELECTRONIC FUNDS TRANSFER (EFT) - Electronic Funds Transfer is an option to the traditional envelope program. Electronic giving is a direct debit program whereby your contribution is automatically withdrawn from your account. The EFT program is used to fund the regular Annual Operating Budget only. Donations to the “Additional Giving Opportunities” must be made by using the “Additional Giving Opportunities” envelope available in your envelope packet mailed to your home. SPECIAL NOTE TO CURRENT 2010 EFT PARTICIPANTS: Your Annual Pledge and installment preference will automatically roll over to 2011 & 2012. If you would like to increase/decrease your pledge or have changes in installment preference, complete and sign the EFT form. No need to attach a voided check unless your account has changed. Questions? Contact Jane Ellen Liebert.
CREDIT CARD OPTION - Parishioners now have the option of making donations to the church using a credit card. |
The credit card program is used to fund the regular Annual Operating Budget only. Donations to the “Additional Giving Opportunities” must be made by using the “Additional Giving Opportunities” envelope available in your envelope packet mailed to your home.
ADDITIONAL GIVING OPPORTUNITIES - Parishioners have the option to provide extra support in addition to regular gifts to the Annual Giving Appeal. You can make donations to the Capital Improvements, Church Endowment, School Endowment, and the St. Clare Center. Use the “Additional Giving Opportunities” envelope in the bi-monthly mailing to fulfill your pledge to these optional and extra opportunities.
MAJOR UNRESTRICTED AND RESTRICTED GIFTS - Oftentimes, parishioners want to give a one time major gift. Such gifts are allocated so that all areas of the church benefit; or restricted to benefit a specific purpose and/or intention of the donor. If you are interested in making a major gift to the church, contact Fr. John or Jane Ellen Liebert.
GIFTS IN-KIND - Another avenue of giving is through gifts in-kind, which are best described as non-cash gifts (tangible property). It is not the responsibility of St. John to place a value on gifts in-kind; however, a recording of such gifts are kept on file. An acknowledgement letter describing the item(s) donated will be sent. It is the responsibility of the donor to determine the value of donated items if you wish to claim your gift as a charitable deduction.
MATCHING GIFT COMPANIES - Matching gifts from employers can double or sometimes triple the value of your giving. Your employer’s human resource office will have the necessary matching-gift information including forms. Oftentimes, employers will not match gifts to religious organizations; however, gifts to St. John School could qualify.
