Karen Dixon
DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY
I recently celebrated my 30th year at St. John Catholic School. I was the second grade Language Arts teacher until 2006. Since then I have served the school and parish as full-time technology director. I continue to work in the classrooms from preschool through sixth grade. I love working with the children at the school. It is amazing to see how quickly they learn to use technology and how well they teach others…including me!
I assist school and parish staff with learning 21st Century skills and various technology issues. We are fortunate to have some of the best equipment available. We pride ourselves on having good communication through our web pages and email. We are continually working to make the school and parish web sites useful and informative.
I have spent most of my life in Lawrence, arriving when I was in third grade with my family, which includes two older brothers. I was involved with Girl Scouts through my college years. Through scouting I traveled all over the country canoeing, sailing, and rafting. I also worked at a Girl Scout camp as counselor and waterfront director during college. These experiences are what led me to teaching.
Anyone who knows me knows I love cats, cross-stitch, reading, traveling, and making Christmas candy. I never pass up an opportunity to visit Colorado or Disney World! I also love all kinds of new technology and spend lots of time learning how to use it.
