Hopefully, this web page will meet those needs.  Send it to other "alums", and add your comments to our Guestbook.  Let us know how you are, for you are loved and remembered at St. John School.

A Brief History of St. John School
St. John School was opened in 1956, offering a Catholic education to students in grades 1-8.  The school opened with four classrooms and in 1961, the first class of 31 students graduated.

Grades 7 and 8 were discontinued in the 1970's, in order to ease the transition to the new junior high format adopted by the Lawrence Public Schools (USD 497).  Kindergarten was added in 1981.

The dawn of the New Millienium marked an exciting change for Catholic education in Lawrence.  A new school, adjacent to Corpus Christi Church, was opened with kindergarten, and a grade will be added each year to have two k-6 facilities.  St. John School was renamed "The Lawrence Catholic School"... with campuses at the St. John site and the Corpus Christi site.
