NCYC/Steubenville Conferences

National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC)

NCYC is a three-day immersion in prayer, community, and faith education. It is the largest Catholic youth gathering in the United States, drawing more than 20,000 youth closer to Christ.

Our youth will experience dynamic speakers, great music and other entertainment, and have the opportunity to grow in faith through activities, Mass, reconciliation and more.

The NCYC conference occurs every other year, and the St. John Youth Group attends once every four years. We last took our youth to the 2011 conference in Indianapolis; our next scheduled trip to NCYC will be in 2015.

Steubenville

Steubenville conferences provide high school students with an opportunity to search, define, and practice their faith in a more intimate setting. While the weekend conferences still draw a large number of attendees (several thousand), events are designed in a way that can reach out to the youth on an individual level.

As their website states:

The Steubenville High School Youth Conferences desire to serve teens, parents and parish youth ministry programs by providing a weekend where participants hear a clear proclamation of the Gospel message through dynamic speaking, inspirational worship and reverent sacramental celebrations aimed at helping them grow in their faith journey and ultimately in Franciscan tradition, accept the call given to St. Francis to, “Go and rebuild My Church.”

Steubenville conferences, which are put on by Franciscan University based in Steubenville, OH, take place during the summer in various locations across the country. Currently the St. John Youth Group is planning to attend the 2013 Steubenville conference in Denver.
