High School Youth Nights

meeting time: 6:30-8:00pm Sunday Nights
location: Bosco Room (located in the lower level of St. John School)
1208 Kentucky Street

For my yoke is easy, and my burden light (Matthew 11:30)

IMPACT Youth Nights will be held twice a month on Sunday nights throughout the school year, and will focus on building fellowship and serving others. If you have never been to youth group before, this is the place to come! Teens will build friendships with the other teens and the adult core team leaders, and will have a blast doing it! A few highlights for the fall to look out for: Minute to Win It, Rock and Roll 80’s Night. Bring friends and get ready to make new ones!

Discipleship groups will meet during the weeks that IMPACT does not week. What is a discipleship group, you ask? The discipleship group model is mimics the way we see Jesus doing ministry in the New Testament; He spent most of His time with Peter, James, and John, along with the 12 Apostles. Those twelve people then changed the ENTIRE world, by teaching others in small communities what they had been taught.

To model Jesus’ approach, a discipleship group is a small group of 6-8 students who commit to meeting 1.5 hours per week every other week so that they can grow deeper in their prayer life and in their relationship with God. Students will be invited to join discipleship groups during a Discipleship Discernment Night after having an encounter with Jesus (a Steubenville Conference, a Prayer & Action, the “Encounter” retreat over Christmas break).

Discipleship Discernment Nights will be held every six months (August and January), and students will be guided by the Holy Spirit into one of our small groups. Then, small groups will use a new curriculum from the Augustine Institute called “YDisciple” (www.YDisciple.org) to help facilitate conversations. This curriculum is by far the best in the country, and you will receive a parent login to view the exact same content that your teens are viewing. Jen and Pete are SUPER excited about this model of ministry; it has the potential to change the entire community and the entire world!
