Matrimony

Matrimony: An Introduction by Fr. Curtis

The Sacrament of Matrimony is a public, prayerful, life-long commitment between a man and a woman. This commitment is made in a church to show that it is a three-fold covenant made by husband and wife and God. Spouses are to be faithful and generous to each other and open to having children—raising them in the practice of the Faith in a loving home. Catholics are to marry in the presence of a priest or deacon, and two other witnesses, in a Catholic Church (unless written permissions are granted otherwise). Healthy, stable marriages provide a solid foundation for the life of the Church and of the civic community.
