Pete Haack
OUTREACH & MUSIC MINISTRY
I am a Lawrence native, having attended St. John school for kindergarten and 1st grade before my family moved all the way to (what was then) the west side of town, prompting a school change. At the start of 5th grade we relocated to the Twin Cities, where I stayed through high school before returning to KU to (officially) become a Jayhawk. I’m proud to call Lawrence home, although I do miss my cold, snowy Minnesota winters, so I make it a point to visit my family up north as often as possible!
At KU I studied math, astronomy, and eventually found my way into education. I recently joined the St. John staff after 6 years of teaching in the Lawrence Public Schools. My wife, Emily, and I are also enjoying our second full year of Wedding Photography, and hoping to continue to grow our business.
Emily and I have two dogs, Lucy and Farley, who have also been adopted by Fr. John (who takes them running early most every morning!). They are a handful, and occasionally a little mischievous, but we love’em all the more for it.
I am fortunate to have the gift of music passed down to me from my mother, who patiently gave me piano lessons once a week starting at age 5, and my father, a life-long music educator and wonderful teacher. I am blessed to be able to share this gift in the Jubilate choir at the 5pm Sunday Mass.
